A Nomadic Baby

We have received mixed reactions from people once they find out we are raising our baby in the camper.

"Wow, how cool" is a frequent reaction, and to them, yes, she is very cool. In my extremely bias opinion she is the coolest baby of all time. Like everything, there are pros and cons.

Sometimes we get questions: what about school? what about daycare? how will you go back to work?

Mia has been to 7 states and 3 national parks already at 4.5 months. She is going to be one very well travelled baby (and she won't remember it at all, of course). However, she has also been seen by 3 pediatricians because we have to change offices.

We plan to put down roots at age 5 or 6, so she can go to school. But what about homeschool? Homeschool is great and we have heard many successful homeschool stories. We always ask, what made you successful, and how did you socialize your kids? The answers are never the same: church groups, sports, home school groups, etc. But they all have one thing in common, you have to be stationary to participate. So we still believe that living nomadic is great for now, but not going to be in Mia's best interest long term. We will likely not retire the camper though, maybe still use it for summers.

We will not be putting Mia in day care, she likely couldn't even get into one with the way I hear waitlists are and the way we would need it for 3 months at each location. Justin and I are lucky that neither of us necessarily have to work all year so we will just alternate, 6 months and 6 months. So someone will always be home.

Mia is healthy, growing, beautiful and strong.

The dogs are also doing well, they're 8 or 9 years old at this point. They are great with the baby.
