Waterton Glacier International Peace Park, shared with Canada, was a dream to visit.
Justin, Mia and I were able to spend 2 days in the park on our drive from Pittsburgh to Boise.
Glacier has many beautiful, clear blue lakes. This is Lake McDonald.
The rocks that make up the lake bed are multi-colored and magical, reds and greens.
We visited in July and there were many wildflowers.
On day one we drove Going-to-the-Sun road, now requiring time slot reservations.
It is an incredibly scenic drive, possibly the most scenic drive we have have done.
Above is McDonald Creek and Heaven's Peak.
Not that it's a good picture or anything, but I was thrilled to see a mountain goat.
They're pretty big.
Day two was when we did our hike. We did trail of the cedars to avalanche lake. It was a dream. Totally worth the effort, an easy trail, really, just under 5 miles, but hard for me at 4 months postpartum.
Avalanche lake is freezing cold and surrounded by mountains and five slow melt waterfalls.
Visiting Glacier was one of the best national park visits to date.
